Job Description:

We require a Technician / Assistant Registrar to work alongside the Logistics Manager and wider Exhibitions team to ensure the smooth execution of all Unit London exhibitions. The gallery environment is fast paced, and the ideal candidate will thrive in such surroundings. Tasks will require hand on involvement therefore experience with art-handling is essential.


Key responsibilities:

-  Ensure the highest standard of presentation for the gallery: making sure it is clean, tidy and presentable at all times and making a conscious effort to touch up the gallery walls when necessary
-  Coordinate all exhibition installs and de-installs alongside the Logistics Manager and Gallery Manager; working alongside an external technician to install all works
-  Formulate all condition reports for all incoming and outgoing artworks and making sure all outgoing and incoming work has relevant paperwork completed and is stored accordingly
-  Logistics and inventory management with external storage companies
-  Wrap, label, catalogue and store artworks safely; ensuring that the database (Salesforce) is up to date with relevant locations and information
-  Arrange transport of artworks to and from the gallery, both nationally and internationally
-  Install artwork at client properties when requested 
-  Ensure gallery maintenance supplies are always stocked: artwork wrapping material, wall paint, office supplies, tools, hanging equipment etc.
-  Stretching/un-stretching artwork canvases when necessary

Person specification:

-  A minimum two years experience as a Technician in a commercial gallery or similar setting, preferably in a fast-paced environment 
-  Some experience of Registrar duties 
-  A 'can do' attitude and the ability to think on your toes 
-  Not afraid to take initiative and put new ideas forward
-  A natural and articulate communicator with good written skills
