This is an introduction to audio visual and sound art installation which will equip learners with an understanding of

- the correct equipment based on artistic specifications

- understanding projector throw, alignment, etc.

- how to set up an AV & sound installation in specific spaces

Beginning with a classroom presentation we will examine the following:

SOUND: The theory of sound, how it works, how we (AV technicians) talk about sound, what we commonly do with sound (in an exhibition AV setting);

VIDEO: The theory on video, covering resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate, what information to look for when we specify equipment for a job. You will also cover video displays, with a little more attention on projectors and how to calculate placement and throw distance for projectors.

Which will be followed by a practical session where you will be tasked with specifying equipment for various AV installations based on equipment specifications which will be followed by a discussion of choices. This builds the understanding that there is alot of equipment which can be used to produce the same results whilst demystifying av equipment specifications sheets.

Art Technical work is predominately physical in its nature therefore if you have physical constraints which mean you struggle with physical activities please discuss this with the course leaders prior to booking to ensure we can accommodate you.

Please RSVP and we will let you know when your can book a place on the training day when the tickets go live.
