Constantine is an established Art Handling, Transport and Shipping company, with clients across the Museum, Gallery and Private sector, both in the UK and around the world.

The Technical team is an extremely busy group, running Gallery and Museum installations and large projects such as Archive and Collection moves, Museum Decants and complex object handling projects.
This role will primarily be to join the Constantine Technical team to win, prepare and manage large decant projects. Working within client Museums and stores, you will be managing the practical logistics of the packing and movement of Museum Collections, liaising directly with client staff and Constantine Tech teams.

Working Hours: Within 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour lunch break.
Reporting to: Head of Technical Team.
Location: This post can be based either at Sandgate Street SE15 or Iver SL0 9JQ. Work will include a mixture of on-site and office-based work, including working at project locations.
The post is a fixed-term position of a minimum of 12 months duration, depending on the duration of the project.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Technical team and the Constantine Technical Managers in the delivery of a major collection decant project.
- Learn and utilise the Constantine in-house management system (LEO) to organise all project-related logistics such as booking resources, ordering crates and sending quotes to clients.
- Undertake site visits within client premises to measure and assess for a wide range of object handling and movements, access, crating and any other site-specific issues.
- Specify a wide range of packing crates and other project-specific materials and maintain stock levels.
- Manage the day-to-day work of the Constantine Technicians and freelancers including their workflow and resources when working on projects.
- Monitor costs and progress of projects against the schedule.
- Attend regular meetings with Client staff, as well as other ad hoc work alongside them.
- Set up and maintain work management files related to projects to assist their practical management.
- Provide RAMS for specific object and collection movements.
- Engage in and maintain the transport schedule of vehicle movements.
- Liaise directly and in correspondence with client project managers.
- At all times fulfil the company aim of providing excellent service to our clients and colleagues alike.
- Work on site within the client’s premises observing all local site rules and with respect to the client’s property.
- Be an active part of the Technical assistance programme run by the Technical Team to give advice to other departments
- Any other duties as required by the Head of Technical or Technical Managers.

Person Specification:
- Minimum 2 years of recent hands-on experience in Art handling and packing.
- Understanding of Museum practice relating to art handling and collections management.
- Previous major project experience would be ideal.
- Knowledge of Museum or Gallery storage environments.
- Clean record of DBS and similar checks.
- Awareness of the conservation issues surrounding art handling.
- Awareness of the health & safety issues surrounding art handling.
- Excellent working familiarity with common software such as Word, Outlook and Excel, and willingness to learn software, including MS Project.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
- Practical experience in an area such as Art, Construction, Engineering or similar activity.
- Outgoing, friendly and helpful attitude, with an ability to build relationships, and work flexibly and independently, and as part of a team.
