Our Barbican Theatre department is looking for a highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join the busy Systems and Maintenance team, responsible for the Theatre’s two auditoria. The Main House Theatre is a proscenium style auditorium seating 1100 people. The Pit theatre is a manoeuvrable space seating up to 200 people.

The successful candidate will be taking on the following duties:

Maintenance of the theatre’s automation systems. Powered flying system, stage lifts and dock doors. Training will be provided in these bespoke areas.
Maintenance of the backstage areas. Stage, scene dock, dressing rooms, toilets, and showers, utilising plumbing, electrical, carpentry and decorating skills.
Reactive maintenance of the Auditorium and backstage lighting and electrical infrastructure
Assist the Systems and Maintenance Technical Manager in compliance procedures. With a focus on Health and Safety, LOLER, and PUWER regulations. Training can be provided.
Engineering support to the theatres incoming productions when required. Carpentry, metalwork, electrical, plumbing.
Assist the Systems and Maintenance Technical Manager with infrastructure and improvement projects within the theatre block.
Maintenance of access equipment and rigging tackle.
Enabling outside contractors within the theatre block.
