Tate Liverpool is the UK’s most popular museum of modern and contemporary art outside London. As the home of the national collection in the North, it is a gallery of international standing, in a historic location, in an iconic world city.
The gallery is currently undergoing an ambitious transformation that will reimagine its spaces to meet the scale and ambition of today’s most exciting artists. Described as “Britain’s most important cultural project”, the gallery will reopen in 2027, making this an exciting moment to join our team.
The post-holder will lead a team of Art Handling Technicians and undertake the management and care of artworks at Tate Liverpool in a wide variety of media. This includes installation and de-installation as well as the safe handling, movement and storage of artworks. The role reports to the Art Handling Manager.
To be successful in this role you will bring significant expertise in the handling, installation and care of complex artworks. You will be able to lead and motivate a team, communicate effectively and work confidently and accurately under pressure.
You will also have experience of developing technical solutions to challenging installations and advising on plans and schedules. You will be responsible for the care, maintenance and storage of art handling equipment and materials.
